Stevens-Johnson syndrome and hospitalization

Well, what a year it has been for me.  First the knee surgery, now this.  I was taking sulfasalazine for arthritis. (I’m still not convinced I have rheumatoid arthritis) and I had a severe allergic reaction to it.  It turned into stevens johnson syndrome and I was hospitalized for five days.  I have never known such misery! My eyes would be crusted shut every morning and I had to use a washcloth to open them.  My face and body is covered in a rash and my mouth has been so sore I haven’t been able to eat anything except soft foods like rice and pudding.  I am down to 169 pounds.  Which is nice, since I put on some weight during my knee surgery rehab.  I want to get back down to 15o again, and would like to stay there.  I am going to a packer game in less then 3 weeks, and then vegas for my birthday in less then 7 weeks!  I just want to get healthy again! I am lucky however, that this syndrome didn’t go into my lungs, or it could have been life threatening.

Knee Surgery…am I really at 180 again?

Well, I haven’t been on the treadmill since April 26th.  I went to the doctor and found out I have osteochondritis dissecans.  Basically my cartilage was breaking away from the bone on my knee.  To make a long story short, I had surgery on June 23rd, had to be on crutches with no weight bearing for 6 weeks, weight bearing as tolerated for 2 weeks, and am now just starting to walk around without the crutches. I am back at 180 pounds, and am very disappointed to start this process over again.  I am going to las vegas for my 30th birthday in beginning of November. I am not going there weighing this much…I am excited to get the green light from my physical therapist as to when I can start working out again.  He said I can start out walking at 2 miles an hour for like 10-15 minutes or whatever I can tolerate right now.  So I guess that is going to have to do for now..I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I am excited to get back down to the 170’s and 160’s again.

Getting back on track to 150

I haven’t written a blog on here for quite some time.  Over the summer I really slacked off on my workouts, ate pizza three times a week and gained back fifteen pounds.  Right now I am in the process of getting back to what my weight was last year.  It seems that if I have something coming up such as a concert or a vacation I am way more motivated to get in shape.  I knew I didn’t have that much planned the last couple of months, so I let myself go.  I must admit it was fun…eating whatever I wanted, drinking beer 3 days a week. But I am paying for it now.  I am on the journey back down to 150….I have  my birthday coming up on November 3rd, a bret michaels show on november 7th, and I’m going to see Vince Neil on November 14th!!  I just can’t wait to see my weight dip below 160 again….I am NEVER letting myself get above 160 again…I feel much better in the 150’s…

Time to Stop Slacking!!

Well, the past few months, since March 10th, I have slacked off way too much. I have been drinking a lot of beer on weekends, which leads to eating too much.  I injured my foot in June and wasn’t able to run or exercise for two weeks. My next goal is to get to 145 by the time I go to Green Bay for the opening game of the season (packers vs. bears) which is on September 13th.  This means, taking off what the pizza and beer has put on, plus lose 2 more pounds .  I hope I can do this.  I have to get back into the mindset.  I had a slim fast for breakfast, and some apple slices for my mid morning snack.  I have a lean cuisine ready to go for lunch, then I am hoping to have boneless, skinless chicken for supper.  Here we go again….I am soo sick of always worrying about body image…

Hello 140’s!

Well, it’s been a while since I’ve been on here.  I went to Vegas and had a blast!  Now, my new goal is to get down to 14o.  I would like to be 146 by Thanksgiving, because I know I will eat a lot of goodies that day, and don’t want to weigh in the next day above 150.

I met Criss Angel–time for new goals!

I had a great time in Vegas and I got to meet Criss Angel at a red carpet event for the grand opening of Tacos and Tequila.  That place is an awesome restaurant at the Luxor.  I partied at LAX.  I went to the wax museum. I went on the rollercoaster at New York New York.  I played slot machines.  I had so much fun in Vegas I did not want to come back to Wisconsin. I met my goal before my trip, so now that I’m back, I’m ready to start my way through the 140’s.  My birthday is on Monday, and we have a poolside jacuzzi suite reserved.  I will have to start on my goals after that, as I do plan on eating White Castle and consuming lots of adult beverages! :)

I met my pre-Vegas Goal!!!!

Today I am sooo happy!  I weighed in at 150 and that was my goal weight to be when I left for Vegas!!  I am leaving in 3 days and I couldn’t be happier!! I am excited to see Criss Angel’s live show Believe and party at LAX!!! It’s awesome that this happened on the 17th, too, which is my favorite number!!! :)

Stuck scale at that time of the month

So, it’s about 4 days before that lovely time of the month and I feel bloated, and the scale just isn’t moving.  I am hoping this is just temporary water weight, because I have been eating good, and exercising 5 days a week, and the scale seems to always get stuck 4 days before my period every month.  What can be done to alleviate this water weight gain?  Any suggestions?  It is really frustrating not getting an accurate scale reading…

Vegas in 2 weeks, at the mid 150s..

Well, it is exactly 2 weeks until I leave for Vegas and I’m at 156.  6 more pounds to go until I hit my goal before I leave.  I’m excited to go shopping for Vegas clothes and some new work clothes next weekend.  My work pants are so big on me right now, they are seriously about to fall off.

Hello 150’s!!!!!! Vegas in 31 days!!!
